What is the difference between UPF & SPF?Updated 4 months ago
While UPF and SPF relate to sun protection, they serve different purposes.
UPF, or Ultraviolet Protection Factor, applies to clothing and textiles. It measures how much UV radiation the fabric blocks before it reaches the skin, with a higher UPF number indicating better protection. UPF 50+ is the highest rating available in the world, blocking at least 98% of UVA and UVB rays.
SPF, or Sun Protection Factor, is specific to sunscreens and lotions. It measures how long the product can protect your skin from sunburn caused by UVB rays. A higher SPF number means more extended protection, but it’s essential to reapply sunscreen every two hours or after swimming or sweating.
